PRISTINE WHITE WATERFALL IN QUANG NGAI PROVINCE

Located in Thanh An Commune of Minh Long District, about 23kms South-West from the center of Quang Ngai City, White Waterfall is a must-see attraction for travellers when exploring Central Vietnam. The best way to reach White Waterfall is by motorbikes.

We climb over the Wind Waist Pass and admire the peaceful beauty of gentle Ve river and cottages on riversides then the amazing view of Ethnic Minority Hre’s Village with stilt-houses nestled slopes, tea farms, and terraced paddies come to our sight as a signal that we are close to the Waterfall.

Tucked in the magnificent Truong Son Mountain Range, White Waterfall is surrounded by an area of huge mountains and hills painted with the green color of trees, fresh and quiet. From a height of over 40 meters, the fall is like a fairy tossing her long hair in the wind. At two sides of the fall, there are lots of Doat trees that Hre people make its juice as the yeast for their special Doat wine.
Climbing to the fall upstream, we have to follow a rocky jungle trail with a deep abyss at one edge. Higher we hike more risks we may get. Then all the hard work will be paid off as we reach the top and witness the amazing panorama that will unfold in front of our view. Reaching the top is already a victory in itself, but setting sight of the wonderful scene stretched out is another experience worth taking pride in. However, this hard trekking is only recommended for advance trekkers with necessary gear.

For light hikers, walk down to the foot of the White Waterfall to meet up with two natural lakes. Each lake is hundreds of square meters in size with clear water in which you can enjoy swimming or fishing. After swimming or fishing, having a noon snap in a hammock in the middle of jungle and near the fall is really ideal. The White Waterfall is well-known to local people but not so tourists and that’s why this attraction still remains completely intact. As a result, there is no service for tourists here, hence, if you plan a day trip to discover White Waterfall of Quang Ngai by yourself, do not forget to bring food, beverage and first-aid kit with you on the trip.

Should you are looking for an guided journey to unspoiled White Waterfall , email Vietnam Jeep Tours at adventure@vietnamjeeptours.com or call +84 909620370.

Gleaming And Beautiful Sight Of Perfume River

For a long time, Huế has been famous for many beautiful and ancient landscapes, and one of them is the Perfume River.

Perfume River flows mildly like a silk range and leads to Vỹ Dạ garden, Thiên Mụ pagoda, Bạch Yến River and Huyền Không pier one after another. All of these four destinations are magnificent, peaceful and ancient.

Along with those beautiful and romantic scenes, Huế is also famous for many pleasure activities, which are very interesting such as “Releasing boat”, “Playing with the moon”, “Huế singing”, “Sleeping on boat” and “Playing with verse, all these activities are associated with Perfume River and only have in Huế.

“Sleeping on the boat” is just a name, since nobody come to the boats for sleeping but only for enjoying the cool wind, watching the moon and the sky and listening to the beautiful songs.

“Playing with verse” is a literary gamble, which enquires players to be very intelligent as well as to have good plans and strategies. The interesting point of the game is that players cannot only make use of all knowledge about literature that they have but also learn many new things from others.

Huế singing is originated from the combination of traditional music and royal music. This elegant and attractive kind of music is really worth listening. Tourists would have a chance to sit on the imperial boats that kings and lords used to be seated in the old time.

In the hold of the boat, there is an imposing orchestra includes nearly all kinds of Vietnamese traditional musical instruments.

The bandsmen as well as the singers are still very young, and they all wear “áo dài”, the Vietnamese traditional clothes. On the prow of the boats, there is a wide and airy space for enjoying the moonlight and the fresh air.

When the night falls down, Perfume River becomes more fantastic. The lamplight spreads on the river just like silver. The winds blow softly and the boat floats slowly. Everything makes travelers feel so peaceful.

In the distance across the river, Thiên Mụ pagoda appears vaporously, Phước Duyên tower looks like being laminated with the moonlight. The scene is so charming and romantic.

Having a night on Perfume River, listening to Huế singing and enjoying the fresh cool air along with the beautiful scenes around, tourists would discover some feelings that could only be found in Huế.

Experience Overnight in Mai Chau District of Hoa Binh Province

Mai Chau District is located in Hoa Binh Province in the Northwestern part of Vietnam, approximately 160 km from Hanoi. There is an estimated 48,570 inhabitants including 7 Ethnic Minority groups such as White Thai, H’Mong, Zao, Muong, Tay, Hoa, and Viet. Mai Chau consist mainly of the White Thai people.

Stepping out of the mini bus, surrounded by huge hills and lush green fields stretching as far as the eyes can see, the first thing I noticed was the significant improvement in the air quality. Although there are still many motorbikes darting about, I felt as if I could once again breathe!

As you approach Mai Chau you will have the chance to view the village from afar. From the top of Cun Mountain you will be blown away with the superb panorama of Mai Chau, nestled, snugly between two towering cliffs and surrounded by lush emerald green paddy fields, the sight is truly enchanting so make sure you have cameras at the ready.

If you are looking for a get away from the busy and crowded hustle of Hanoi, you may have just found it. Mai Chau would be ideal for travellers seeking an authentic Vietnamese experience with the option of home-stay, which is available in two of the White Thai villages nearby. Ban Pom Coong and Ban Lac are both run by the ethnic minority families. I did however find Ban Lac to be the more developed of the two as Ban Lac boasts more gift shops and a busier.

The house is traditional wooden buildings sat on top of stilts. For your home-stay, you can expect large communal rooms on the second floor where mats will be laid down on top of the squeaky, split bamboo flooring. The White Thai are very conscious of hygiene and cleanliness so remember to leave footwear outside at all times. Although it is very basic and simple accommodation, you will find western style toilets, hot water and in some houses satellite television installed. The cost will set you back around 150,000VND and for this price you will enjoy an evening meal prepared and cooked for you by the local hosts, a bed for the night and also breakfast the following morning. Sitting down for dinner with the White Thai is a truly warming experience, their hospitality really is second to none.

While living with the locals you will be sure to see some of their old traditions and customs. Green tea would be offered to guests, especially by the man of the house and it would be common for the female (usually an older lady).

It offers you the chance to blacken your teeth by chewing “Betel” – A betel chew is made up of several ingredients: betel leaf, slivers of areca palm nut and a bit of lime paste. The pieces of nut covered with lime paste are wrapped in a leaf of the betel pepper vine, making a tiny package that fits neatly into the pouch of the cheek. Although teeth look unsightly to us, tooth blackening prevents tooth decay. Those who have had their teeth blackened maintain a full set of teeth longer than those who have not undergone the process. Teeth blackening may prolong life by maintaining the capacity to enjoy a wholesome diet.

An elegant building with 16 beautifully designed and decorated rooms located in the heart of the village looking out onto a spectacular view from every possible angle, whether it is towards the mountains or the valley. When entry I was greeted warmly by the staff. Rest assured, while staying at the lodge that you can see they always serve you friendly with a cosy smile and that is what a traveller expect.

A mix of local specialties and world cuisines meet in the middle creating a memorable dining experience. You also have the choice of a fine selection of wines and spirits or if you are really set on experiencing all things traditional throughout your stay, go for a bottle of locally produced rice wine.

Although in the middle of this basic and undeveloped, picturesque paradise, you will enjoy comforts including; en-suite bathrooms, hair dryers, air conditioning, satellite television, telephones and free unlimited internet connection.

After a day of wandering around the local market and seeing the many weird and wonderful things for sale or traditional clothing being skilfully woven operated by the Thai women are using fascinating homemade machines, I really enjoyed a dip in the lodges’ swimming pool, a soak in the Jacuzzi and a steam bath before sprucing up for the evening.

When visiting Mai Chau, I would recommend an overnight in the home-stay with the locals to quench your thirst for Vietnamese culture in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere at the lodge.

For the travellers who visit to Vietnam at the first time, I highly recommended you to book those adventure packages at Vietnam Jeep Tours. They offer many tours to Mai Chau for you to experience overnight in home-stay. For more information and advices about those tours, you can direct contact via adventure@vietnamjeeptours.com or hotline: +84 909 602 370.

Discover Saigon for Early Birds

Saigon, with no doubt, to both travellers and local residents is certainly a busy city with dense traffic flows in rush hours filled by motor bikes and cars, fast moving life pace, full of activities both night and day. The city, however, like all other places, contains several hidden surprising corners that visitors often miss because of their ‘ordinary’ nature: early morning flower market, the typical street foods, corner café stands, and the city’s rare slow pace moments of the day. All together, create a different angle of the city life and the ordinary but precious daily life experience that surprise visitors and even locals.

5:30AM – Visit the Hidden Flower Market
Start our tour early in the morning, ride our motorbikes from your hotel to the Ho Thi Ky Flower market which is around 15 minutes from the city centre. The first amazing view comes into our view are huge bunches of roses, lotuses, lilies, daisies and orchids being unloaded from trucks and motorbikes mostly from the highland and Mekong Delta. In the air, we could feel the eternal springtime magically created by the pleasant fragrances of hundreds of varieties of fresh flowers. A short chat with a flower seller here, we can learn the flower trading is not an easy job because the vendors have to work from very early morning until mid-nights but with their strong passion of work. Given the fast developing speed of the city, the flower market remains as the bridge to nature and countryside.

7:00AM – Enjoy Street-Food Style Breakfast
The period from 7.00am to 9.00am is really rush hours when everybody tries to escape from daily crazy heavy traffic to reach their workplace in time. After 20 minute riding in the crowded motorbike lines, we stopped at a local street food stall in Ho Ba Kien Street to order a very delicious dish named “Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả” (Steamed broken rice with grilled pork ribs, thinly shredded pork skin, and egg custard). A small bowl of sweet fish sauce mixed with ground garlic & chilly is the must-have to make this combination tasteful & more special. “Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả” is considered as a very traditional specialty of Southern Vietnamese breakfast.

9:00AM – Get Into the Oldest Part of China Town

Get back on our motorbikes after the breakfast and head to Tran Hung Dao Boulevard – a main vein to enter China Town. Our first stop on Tran Hung Dao Boulevard is at an antique Minh Huong Temple (also called Ming Dynasty Assembly Hall) built in 1789 to the dedication and worship of the Ming Dynasty. Especially, Minh Huong Temple is the remnant of Minh Huong Village – the foundation of present China Town. Here still we find architecture and hundred year old relics in the temple. We continue on this big boulevard then off to colorful Luong Nhu Hoc Street, where many traditional shops concentrate on selling unicorn heads & royal costumes. Turn to the oldest street of Chinese Herbs & Medicine: Hai Thuong Lan Ong. The strong odors of different types of medicinal herbs impressed us as soon as we reach this street. Smells come from many medicine stores built in a mix of western and Chinese architectural elements in the mid-1800s. Continue riding slowly on Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street, we encounter most of ancient houses & stores where patterns still remain for more-than-100years. Walk into a traditional medicine shop for a chance to see how Chinese medicine is made & used. Next, we leave the medicine street to ride a round of Binh Tay Market to view the special structure, colorful surrounding Chinese house-shops, and vibrant atmosphere.

11:00AM - Taste Special Lunch in China Town

It’s time to have “Sui Cao” (shrimp wonton soup) - one of traditional Chinese food on Ha Ton Quyen Street for our lunch before riding back to Saigon center (District 1) to end our half-day trip. If you are looking for the similar experience, email Vietnam Jeep Tours at adventure@vietnamjeeptours.com or call +84 909620370.
