Misty Tam Dao Is A Beautiful Spot

Misty Tam Dao Is A Beautiful Spot
Around 60 kilometers from Hanoi, Vinh Phuc is famous for many attractions such as Dai Lai Lake, Huong Canh Temple, Phu My Communal House and Binh Son Tower.

But in Tam Dao, there is not only the most popular site for tourists in the Province, but also the most picturesque.

Tam Dao is endowed with a lot of beautiful landscapes, the romantic combination of forests, streams and mountains; clouds driven by the wind; the sounds of the cascades echoing far and wide, mingled with the songs of forest birds.

Tam Dao is a huge mountain range which is about 80 kilometers long and 10 – 15 kilometers wide. In 1904 French settlers built 200 villas, hotels, restaurants, a sports court, swimming pool and dance venue. With three magnificent peaks which are over 1,000 meters above sea level, people said Tam Dao resembles a giant man with his hands to the sky and standing imposingly in the mist.

There is Ban Thach in the middle which is 1,338 meters, Thien Nhi Mount to the left at 1,375 meters and on the right is the 1,400 – meter Phu Nghia.

Tam Dao is blessed with ideal temperatures of about 21 degrees Celsius and it appears to have four seasons in one day. The cool wind in the morning makes people think of spring, the sun at noon is like summer, the romantic sunset makes you think of autumn, while the chill at night is like wintertime.

The sunset coming over Tam Dao Township makes for a peaceful, vaporous and misty scene.
People coming to Tam Dao often say that they feel like they are in Sapa or Dalat City such is its beauty.

In Tam Dao, tourists should visit Bac Waterfall to witness the magnificence of the fall which is akin to a white silk carpet stretching down from heaven.

Thuong Mau Temple is where tourists can find tranquillity, appreciate nature and revel in a sacred atmosphere.

Trekking into Phu Nghia Mount is a challenge and a half. However, the splendid surroundings, wild flowers and the poetic Xa Huong Lake on the way, especially the panoramic view of Tam Dao, will make the trek more than worthwhile.

Coming to Tam Dao, tourists should also visit Tay Thien, a complex of many relics and temples such as Chan Suoi, Dau, Ca, Thong, Co, Cau or Dong Co Pagoda.

The journey to Tay Thien is rather difficult, though, as travellers need to pass many streams, slopes, forests and torturous trails. However, the stunning scenery makes it all worthwhile, especially if you get a rush out of adventure.

Vietnam’s National Highway – World’s Best Cycling Route

Vietnam’s National Highway – World’s Best Cycling Route
Vietnam’s 1A National Highway has been nominated as the world’s best cycling route by ‘Lonely Planet’, a travel guidebook owned by BBC Worldwide.

“This iconic road runs the length of the narrow country from North to South. It is the most popular cycling route in Vietnam, a long but immensely rewarding trip along the best parts of Vietnam’s coastline. The route has some reasonable hills, climaxing in the mighty Hai Van Pass (496m) (the border of Thua Thien – Hue Province and Da Nang City in the Central) – with a breathtaking descent as pine-clad mountains loom to the West and the sea vanishes into the east. Take the time along the way to gaze at networks of lush rice fields blanketing the hidden valleys below; fish, snorkel or dive the turquoise waters of the coast; and soak up the atmosphere of delightful rural hamlets”, the book described.

Other cycling paradises mentioned are in Isle of Wight, England; West Coast, Tasmania, Australia; Luberon and Mont Ventoux, Provence, France; San Juan Islands, Washington, USA; County Clare, Ireland; La Farola, Cuba; Otago Peninsula, New Zealand; Cape Breton Island, Canada; Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.

Travel Attraction: Tiger Fighting Arena In Hue City – A Unique Architecture

Tiger-Fighting Arena In Hue City, A Unique Architecture
The open – air tiger fighting arena in Hue City in the North Central Coastal Province of Thua Thien – Hue dates back to the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam.

Built in 1830, during the reign of Emperor Minh Mang, it served as a place for holding sacrificial ceremonies and entertainment events for the king, his mandarins and the public.

The original tiger fighting arena, a site of many gruesome battles between elephants and tigers, was a solid stone complex of ancient monuments, located in Truong Da Hamlet of Thuy Bieu Commune in Hue City.

The arena comprises of two concentric round walls made up of wood, brick and mortar with a yard covered with grass.

The exterior wall is sloping, 4.5 meters in height and 45 – meters in diameter, while its interior wall stands 6 meters high having a 35 – meter diameter. Both the walls are positioned four meters apart at the base and three meters apart at the top.

The rectangular grandstand for spectators is 96 square meters and built 1.5 meters higher than ground level and also higher than other stands. From this vantage point, people could get a clear view of the arena.

Two entrances lead to the stands. The first was for the king and royalty with 20 steps, the other for soldiers and commoners with 15 steps.

Between these two entrances was another gateway, 1.9 meters wide and 3.9 meters high, for elephants to enter the arena.

Opposite the royal grandstand were five tiger cages with trapdoors.

A stone plaque with the words “Hổ Quyền” (tiger fighting) carved in the Han script is placed on the centre of the walls of these five cages.

Tiger and elephant battles were held annually. During the Nguyen Dynasty rule and particularly under the reign of Emperor Thanh Thai, much emphasis was placed on training elephants to fight.

Elephants represented the goodness whilst tigers represented evil in all the battles.

While elephants were taken good care of, tigers were starved and had all their teeth and claws removed to incapacitate their strength. That’s why elephants were always the ones to win the battles.

The tiger fighting arena is a remarkable work of architecture, and although it cannot compare with the Coliseum in Rome, Italy, it never fails to impress visitors with its own uniqueness, as well as the atmosphere it exudes.

Spectacular Beauty Of Ham Ho In Binh Dinh

Spectacular Beauty Of Ham Ho In Binh Dinh
Binh Dinh Province is not only attractive for the mysterious beauty of seven clusters of Cham tower in Tay Son Town, but also the spectacular beauty of Ham Ho.

Ham Ho is the confluence of Dong Huu River and Cat River. This beautiful site is a section of river with the length of about 3 kilometers.

The two sides of the river are full of rolling stones. Flickering are the green clumps of tree and the purple of violet flower.

There are also some clusters of orchid hanging on the branches of some large trees.
Coming to Ham Ho, tourists will have a chance to wallow in the imposing landscape of mountain, river and forest.

Besides, the masterpiece in the river – bed will definitely impresses any tourists. With the width of 30 meters, the river – bed is full of granite in many colours. They go up, down and stand against each other to create various forms.

In dry season, when there is sunshine, these granite stones will alight with sparkling colours. The river seems like it is full of diamond.

Each stone has its own shape, and tourists can let their imagination free to look at those beautiful stone in any way they like.

Tourists can also have sightseeing along the river by ship. The particularly interesting scene begins with a dam full of clear and cool water. Then, going against the current for a while, there will be a fabricating cliff like a city wall.

Come nearer to the upstream waters, the river is more sloping and runs faster. Each sections of the river are divided into some small waterfalls. The water is poured down strongly and bounces noisily against the cliffs. The whole scene is so impressive.

Sometimes, the sound of some birds and gecko resound here and there, which makes the scenery wilder and livelier.

Apart from beautiful and imposing landscape, Ham Ho is also a war vestige. With special terrain, this place used to be revolutionary base in some resistance wars. Therefore, this tourist attraction has a critical historic meaning.

A journey to Ham Ho in Binh Dinh Province will certainly help tourists discover many new interesting things about nature as well as history.

Hanoi Sets To Expand Tourist Electric Bus Fleet
Hanoi’s local government has approved a plan to expand the operation of electric powered tourist buses to the city’s famous beauty spots. The buses will be allowed to operate in the entire Hoan Kiem District, instead of just the Old Quarter.

Best Asian Beaches For Summer 2011

Best Asian Beaches For Summer 2011

Some says that the most beautiful beaches in Asia are those that have not been visited by many, and are inaccessible to most. Conventional wisdom might be spot on here, but the time spent getting to these Asian beaches is well worth it.

From Borneo to Seychelles, we bring you a step closer to discovering some most breath-taking beaches and resorts for summer 2011.

Con Dao, Vietnam
Famed for its clear blue-green waters, golden beaches, lush mangrove forests and vibrant coral reefs, Con Dao is a 16 – island archipelago located within South East Vietnam that clearly earns its place on our list.

First recognised as a nature reserve and now a national park, Con Dao encompasses every aspect of oceanic and coastal ecosystems, including its claim as one of the most important sea turtles egg – laying areas in Vietnam. It's also home the rare dugong and dolphins.

Although seemingly worlds away, Six Senses Con Dao isn't difficult to get to, located in a secluded bay just 8km from Co Ong airport.

With only 50 modern villas, Six Senses offers generous personal space with lush tropical mangrove vegetation and breathtaking views. Each villa has its own private infinity pool and unobstructed views of the South China Sea. The unique design style reduces air – conditioned spaces whilst providing additional natural ventilation.

Getting there is easy. Con Dao is approximately 230 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. The transfer flight to Con Dao takes approximately 45 minutes.

Mabul Island, Borneo
Just off the Northeastern coast of Malaysia, Mabul is a secluded island perfect for beach lovers and divers alike. One of our favourite resorts there is the 45 – bungalow Sipadan Water Village Resort, where the entire venue is set atop stilts over the water.

Borneo is known as one of the best diving sites in the world, including Sipadan Island, just 15km away from Mabul. With calm seas, cool breezes and vivid coral reefs, the island's beauty and exclusivity is self – explanatory.

Getting to Sipadan is a little tricky, which explains why the tourist masses have bypassed this island and moved onto other Malaysian beaches such as Redang.

The first leg, a direct flight to Kota Kinabalu, is easy. Once there, travellers need to change planes and take a domestic flight to Tawau airport on the east coast of Sabah.

Although a bit of a haul, being able to enjoy a view that you share with only 44 other people makes it all worth it.

Praslin, Seychelles
The crème de la crème of all beach resorts is the newly opened Raffles Praslin Seychelles, located on the stunning and private island of Praslin, a 15 – minute helicopter ride from the main island of Mahe, Seychelles. Seychelles is an island nation spanning an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, some 1,500km east of Kenya, Africa.

Raffles Praslin Seychelles features 86 villas including one- and two – bedroom villa suite options with views of the Indian Ocean. All villas include private plunge pools and features round-the clock butler service that draws on the Raffles tradition of delivering personalized and discreet service.

Discover The Latent Beauty Of Que Son

Discover The Latent Beauty Of Que Son

Talking about Quang Nam Province, probably many people would think about Hoi An street or My Son holy city. However, the beautiful landscape in the west of Que Son town, at the headwaters of Thu Bon River is also a very attractive destination.

Tay Vien hot spring brings enjoyment and relaxation

Distant from My Son vestige about three kilometers towards the west is Tay Vien hot spring. This place is taken form from some earthquakes in the entrails of the earth millions of years ago.

The water in these two streams is very clear, with the average temperature of about 85 degrees.

This is an ideal place for tourist to steam bath. The stream’s water contains many precious mineral substances such as calcium, potassium, sulphur and iron. Tourists can also have a mud – bath here, which can help them to relax and cure some sickness.

At a distance of about five kilometers from Tay Vien towards the east, there is a very beautiful stream, named Fairy Stream. This is one of the most beautiful streams in the Central region.

Located in two sides of the stream are the Rocky Mountains. In the afternoon, the sunset contrasts and creates miraculous colours, and makes the landscape become a natural painting, which is so beautiful and impressive.

About 2.5 kilometres from Tay Vien hot spring towards the west, there is a cultural village, Dai Binh village, it is located nearby Thu Bon River.

Coming there, tourists can totally feel comfortable when relaxing in the ancient houses and enjoy the countryside fruits. The gardens here are just like ones in the South with so many kinds of fruit such as durian, mangosteen, rambutan, langsat, orange and grapefruit.
There is also ferry – boats for tourists to enjoy the scene along Thu Bon River. On the two sides of the river, people grow many mulberry. Tourists would be very impressed with the immense green of these mulberry gardens.

Tourist can stop their ferry – boats at any white sand – banks along the river to enjoy the beautiful landscape around as well as swimming, catching fishes and the delicious baked fishes.

The flow crosses two mountains. The cliffs look just like the huge dykes that divide the water into two parts. The scene is just so imposing.

When the ferry – boat floats downstream, tourists would have chance to visit Le Pass, with a beauty that is not very different from Fairy Stream. On this way back, Que Chau village would welcome tourists with the traditional Vietnamese opera and Non village would make tourists interested with the process of making “non la” (conical hat)- the traditional hat of Vietnamese people.

But, more importantly they will have a chance to enjoy Tam Hoa plums a tasty specialty of the district.

Located 69 kilometers from Lao Cai Township, there are three buses daily to Bac Ha from Lao Cai bus station at 6 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tourists from Hanoi can catch a train to Pho Lu then take a motorbike taxi to Bac Ha for 50km. Also from Sapa travellers can hire a Minsk bike to Bac Ha with the 80km journey taking three hours.

The World's Most Beautiful Rivers

Based on the travel sources such as Frommer’s and Fodor’s, and the research by travel blogger John Giuffo, we came up with the list of ten rivers in the world that beg to be visited at least once in a lifetime.

Mekong River, Cambodia and Vietnam
Meandering through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, the Mekong is one of the world’s most verdant and important rivers, providing a cultural lifeline to all of the countries it touches. From the impressive ancient temples of Angkor Wat, to the crowded and vibrant Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong is a wonderful river which repays explorations by boat cruise. “You get a little bit of city life, a little bit of country, and obviously, the temples,” says Sarna.

Río Futaleufú, Chile and Argentina
The tiny, picturesque town of Futaleufú in Chile provides access to the river that bears its name, promising a waterway experience that rivals any in the world for its beauty and drama. Fed by a glacial runoff, the cold, clear blue waters of the river are a popular locale for heart-quickening tours by white water raft or kayak.

“It winds through lush forests and moody valleys from Argentina to Chile, providing all the beauty of the Andes and the Chilean and Argentine lakes districts of northern Patagonia,” says Kealy.

Cano Cristales River, Northern Colombia
A psychedelic swirl of improbability, the Cano Cristales is sometimes called “the world’s most beautiful river,” and with good reason: It is the host to a dizzying array of colours that result from pockets of algae that bloom during the height of summer. Aquamarines push up against eddies of red and fingers of yellow cut through pockets of bright green in this river in Northern Colombia. At less than 100 kilometers long, and rarely more than 20 meters wide, this compact slice of river offers a kaleidoscope of otherworldly experiences – but it is not easy to get to: you’ll need to fly from Villavicencio to Macarena, then take a boat and cut through unmarked trails in order to find this jungle jewel of a river.

Zambezi River, Zambia and Mozambique
The Zambezi flows 2,700 kilometers through six African countries before it spills into the Indian Ocean, allowing for a large array of ways to explore the riverside life and beauty of Africa. Although it is the fourth-largest river in Africa, it’s most popular spot by far is Victoria Falls, the world’s largest waterfalls, and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Nearly a million people visit the falls every year to witness the awe-inspiring volume of water that cascades over 354 feet to the bottom at its deepest point, or to swim dizzyingly close to the edge at a naturally-safe swimming spot called “Devil’s Pool,” a popular location to take photo shopped-looking pictures of daredevil wading.

Yangtze River, China
The Yangtze is the longest river in Asia, providing a striking array of opportunities to explore Chinese life and the culture that sprouts along its banks. This is another river on which it pays to travel by boat cruise. Many of the cruises tend to be shorter than a week, but are guaranteed to provide access to some of the best rural Chinese experiences you can find..

“You see the Three Gorges Dam construction site, the gorgeous scenery and mountains, and the impressive pagodas along the river banks,” says Heidi Sarna, a Former’s contributor. “With all the changes going on, it will be a completely different place in ten years, so see it now.”

Hanalei River, Kauai, Hawaii
Kauai is the only island in Hawaii that has navigable rivers, and the Hanalei is the best of the bunch. “You can kayak past taro fields and green mountains, under one lane bridges, and finally out into Hanalei Bay, which is the prettiest place I've ever seen,” says Feodor’s Editor Kelly Kealy.

Designated an American Heritage River in 1997, the Hanalei is only 15 miles long, but packs a Hawaiian punch of beauty into its short span before emptying into Hanalei Bay.

Danube River, Central Europe
The Danube cuts and abuts ten nations in Central Europe, from the Black Forest in Germany down to the Black Sea in Romania. Along the way, it winds through medieval towns, towering castles, and historic sites that rival some of the world’s best river experiences. Take a riverboat cruise lasting anywhere from a few hours to two weeks to explore some of the best the river has to offer and take advantage of the daily excursions that allow you to dig deeper into the history and culture of one of Europe’s most important rivers.

Hudson River, New York
From the base where barges full of fireworks fuel the nation’s most popular Fourth of July display, to the upper reaches, which provided settlers access to some of New York’s most important economic destinations, the Hudson River is beautiful throughout. There are vistas of steel and concrete canyons which give way to verdant, high banks that have inspired painters and authors for generations. One of the earliest American rivers to attract visitors, the Hudson retains its popularity mainly on the strength of its stunning beauty, from the Adirondacks to the Financial District.

Kenai River, Alaska
If sport fishing is your thing, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more fertile or impressive destination for your angling. Located in the lush, rugged wilderness of southern Alaska, the Kenai is known for its abundant stocks of North Pacific Salmon, which can range anywhere between 50 and 85 pounds. Imperial mountains frame idyllic backdrops of Alaskan nature as you kayak down rapids or drop a line into the river, hoping to hook one or thirty large salmon – a haul you’ll be boasting about to your friends for a long time.

Spree River, Germany
The Spree runs 400 kilometers through Germany and the northern Czech Republic, but it’s the section of the river that cuts through Berlin that is the most popular and impressive. Take a boat tour to experience some of the city’s most impressive architecture, from the so-called museum island, to the Reichstag. “The architecture – old and new and sometimes both – is always reflected off the water, and the people-watching is amazing,” says Kealy. It’s also a joy to explore by riverside, but the view of the city from the water is unlike any other, and is a guaranteed way to spend an unforgettable day in Berlin.

A Must – See Beach In Ninh Thuan

Bai Rua (Turtle Beach) is certainly one of the must – see beaches along the coast of central Vietnam, as the area in Ninh Hai District – Ninh Thuan Province boasts magnificent scenery, clean sand, original trees and beautifully – shaped rocks.

Ninh Thuan is located in the driest region of Vietnam, in the hot season the high temperatures, change of the day and strong winds contribute to peeling the outer layers of rocks and carving them into different patterns which are attractive to visitors.

Rocks and trees around Turtle Beach are distinctive in their originality. In addition to evergreen pine trees, the magnet of Turtle Beach lies in the beauty of many short but old trees that cannot grow well in a dry province like Ninh Thuan but evolve into bonsai with eye – catching shapes.

One of the old beautiful trees on the way to Turtle Beach stands about three meters tall on the verge of a deep valley under which turtles come to lay their eggs, mostly from April and July.

The old tree serves as an umbrella for visitors to rest after trekking the 20-minute journey from Provincial Road 702 to the scenic Vinh Hy Bay. Tourists can lean against the tree while casting their eyes to the Bai Rua down the valley in Vinh Hai Commune.

As the area of Turtle Beach is well protected for turtles to lay their eggs, it is closed to tourists for the majority of the year. But don’t let this discourage you from viewing Turtle Beach from afar.

Beside the three-meter-tall trees, several nearby boulders serve as good posts for you to stand firmly against strong winds while looking at Turtle Beach nestled behind lines of pine trees. The attractive rocks lying nearby and the beach make Turtle Beach a must-see area on a summer trip to Ninh Thuan.

Southeast Asia has plenty of kid-friendly destinations but we are mentioning about Great Indochina Destination (Vietnam – Cambodia – Laos), with loads of pretty but safe beaches, fun and unusual activities and lovely natural attractions.

1) Vietnam's World Heritage-listed Hoi An is a stunning historical port town with plenty to do. Take an eco-tour to visit Cham Island, check out Tra Que veggie farm to prove to your kids that veggies don't come wrapped in plastic and hire some bikes and head out to the nearby beaches. Budding chefs can take a cooking class - our favourites are Cafe 96 and Hai Scout Cafe. Kid’s growing out of their clothes too quickly. This is the spot to get tailor-made clothes for a song, as well as shoes. Fashion-conscious teenagers will go wild.

2) Nestled in the mountains of North Vietnam, the former French retreat of Sapa is a colourful hideaway to take your kids. Enjoy the cooler temperatures (take winter clothes during, well, winter), browse the markets and observe the different ethnic minorities at work, walking through amazing rice terraces and sign up for a cooking class. If you're in the region over the weekend, the Bac Ha Sunday Market should also be on your list.

3) Cambodia's Ko Tonsay (Rabbit Island) located in South of Cambodia, perfect for an absolutely low-key couple of days for your family to reconnect. Brand this to your kids as an old-style adventure: The accommodation is very rustic, the beach empty and safe, the seafood perfect (your kids will be able to wade out to choose their crabs). You'll be completely offline as power only comes on at night, letting you all pay attention to each other for a few days. Take plenty of sunscreen and games.

4) Come for the dolphins, stay for the beauty. Cambodia's Kratie is where to base your family for a visit to see the critically endangered Mekong Irrawaddy Dolphins – only a few score are left in the world, and one of their remaining habitats is at Kampi, about 20 km away. Dolphins aside, head to Ko Treung across the river from Kratie and hire some bicycles for a lovely unspoilt Cambodian rural experience. Your kids may be amazed to see how entire villages live without the Internet.

5) The fabled town of Luang Prabang in Laos will appeal to the whole family. Mum and Dad can relax in one of the many gorgeous cafes sipping Lao lattes while the kids take a cooking class, and everyone can pile into a boat to chug up the Mekong to the Pak Ou caves, home to a gazillion little Buddha images. Hire cycles for a family trip out to the pretty Kwang Si falls.
Head to the area where one of several elephant camps to get up close and personal with a pachyderm.

6) Vang Vieng might have a reputation as a backpacker haven, but it's also not a bad little spot for a family to spend a very active few days. Go inner-tubing down the river flanked by fabulous limestone karsts, go caving, and try an adventure on an array of equipment taking advantage of the river: flying foxes, swinging cables ... you name it, Vang Vieng probably has it.

VJT is providing tour package for family, individual or small groups of travellers to travel to Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia. More details about VJT click here or contact via adventure@vietnamjeeptours.com / hotline: +84 909 602 370.

10 Reasons To Do An Adventure Tour

Independent travel isn't for everyone, and for some, doing an "adventure tour" to Southeast Asia can be the perfect blend of adventure and convenience with a not totally unreasonable price. So read on to find out ten key points that we believe can work in favour of doing an adventure tour.

1. Adventure Tours Are Easy
One of the best things about tours is that operators like All Points East take care of everything. Sure they're called adventure tours, but they're not so adventurous that you need to argue with unscrupulous tuk tuk drivers, berate hoteliers whose air-con doesn't work, or fume at corrupt immigration officers. There's generally a minder, etc., guide, who looks after all these aspects of your adventure.

2. Adventure Tours Are A Great Way To Meet People
And you don't have to kill them! If you're travelling solo and are a bit nervous about meeting other travellers, a tour with an adventure company like Intrepid Travel can be an ideal way to get an "instant" group. Of course it might not be a group of people you actually like, but that's a separate issue.

3. Tours Are Efficient
Planning a four day trip to India, Nepal and Tibet? They don't call an organised tour organised for nothing. If your time is limited and your planned itinerary certifiable, then a tour is the way to go.

4. Adventure Tour = Instant Group
Because you're already travelling in a group, there's no wasting time hanging out waiting for enough people to form a group to this or that -- this or that being some prohibitively expensive mini-adventure if you're travelling solo.

5. Tours Are Insured -- Or Should Be
If you're booking with a well-regarded, legal tourist company, then the operator should be bonded and fully insured. So if they go broke, you'll not have to walk home.

6. Tours Make Budgeting Easier
There's nothing worse than budgeting $2,000 for a month long trip only to run out of dough after ten days. By taking a tour, a very large part of the cost is settled -- upfront. Sure, you may still run out of cash, but you'll still have a bed for the remainder of the nights and a flight home.

7. Tours Smooth Over Language Issues
If you're not up on the lingua franca and would rather consume a few gallons of beer on the flight than the first few chapters of a phrase book, and then you'll be in safe hands with a tour company. Tours invariably engage local guides -- guides who double as translators.

8. Tours Can Be Customised
If you opt for a small group adventure tour, chances are you'll have a group size of under eight to ten people. With a group this small there's often considerable opportunity to customise the trip -- obviously this will depend on the operator, but you'll be surprised just how much customisation is possible. With a provider like Thailand Travel Plan you can really build your own trip.

9. Tours Know What They're On About
Of course there are tours and there are tours, but generally tour operators know the highlights of any country or town and they take you to them -- as efficiently as possible. Sure you might miss the funky little cafes that just the expats know, but you'd have had to hang around for a month to find it yourself.

10. Tours Are Not As Expensive As They Seem
Don't get distracted by the price -- $100 a day isn't as much as it sounds when you factor in the cost of the accommodation, transport, food, drink and the sights. Don't forget, adventure tours sell the convenience as well as the experience, so don't do all your shopping by numbers.

Ly Son Island

Ly Son Island
With many historical, cultural relics and fascinating tourist areas, Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai is an amazing tourist attraction.

Though referred by many as the “fairy island,” it is also known for its vast garlic fields with a pungent aroma, thus, is called as the kingdom of garlic. But that’s not all this island can offer.

It cradles a very diverse ecosystem with five mountains, including Thoi Loi, Gieng Tien, Hon Vung, Hon Soi and Hoi Tai, which lures tourists with its mysterious caves, imposing waterfalls, and splendid rivers and lakes. Looking beyond the mountains are lines of stunning beaches laid with colourful rocks, pebbles and corals.

Among the most noticeable attractions nestled in the island are Hang and Duc Pagodas and An Hai Temple. The Hang Pagoda is a peaceful sanctuary with ancient architecture surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is founded about 400 years ago using a natural cave, is a combination of natural feature and human labour, thus of great value in different ways. It is a popular destination for tourists seeking for relaxation in magnificent and poetic scenery.

Not only accommodating various valuable historical and cultural relics, the Ly Son Island also embraces legends associated with many folk and traditional festivals, such as Tet (Vietnam’s new year), boat race, hat boi (traditional Vietnamese opera), fish worshipping, and especially ceremonies to pay homage to solders of the Hoang Sa flotilla who died in battles in Hoang Sa (Parcel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) islands under the Nguyen dynasty.

The island has a 374-square-meters museum displaying more than 1,000 documents, photos and artefacts associated with the heroic Hoang Sa flotilla. The island also holds a cemetery for the late Hoang Sa soldiers. With that, Ly Son is a living museum.

Many artefacts of Sa Huynh and Cham Cultures were discovered on Ly Son Island. The Thien Yana and old ruong houses are evidence for Sa Huynh and Cham’s ancient civilizations. Indeed, artworks and historical tokens can come in many forms. But perhaps Ly Son, with its charm, rich history and entirety, is among the few ones that prove to be a token in itself.

Tourists can catch a boat from Quang Ngai province’s Sa Ky port to reach Ly Son Island after nearly one hour.

New Caves Discovered At Phong Nha-Ke Bang

New Caves Discovered At Phong Nha-Ke Bang
Two new caves have been discovered at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Phong Nha- Ke Bang National Park in the central province of Quang Binh.

Ho Khanh, who found the caves and named them “97” and “98,” which are the years he got lost in the deep forest of the national park in an exploration trip and had a chance to explore the geological formations there, said “97” is 765m long and “98” is 750m long and both are at least 60m high.

Different from most caves of the park that have rough floors, the floors of these newly found caves are flat like man-made structure.

Ho Khanh said the two caves are located in the Doong area, which is home to Son Doong, the world’s largest cave discovered in 2009 also by Ho Khanh and a team of British cave explorers from the British Caving Association.

Before the discovery of Son Doong Cave, Phong Nha-Ke Bang held several world cave records such as the longest underground river and the largest caverns and passageways.

New Border Gates To Cambodia Opened

Vietnam and Cambodia yesterday opened another pair of border posts, Hoa Lu in Vietnam's Binh Phuoc Province and Trapeang Sre in Cambodia's Kratie Province.

This is the fifth of seven pairs of border posts the two countries agreed to open under a road transport agreement signed in 1998 and a protocol signed in 2005.

Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said the gates would not only facilitate trade and economic development between the two border provinces, but also improve co-operation between the two countries.

The four border points currently open for road transport between the two countries are Moc Bai - Bavet (Tay Ninh and Svay Rieng Provinces), Tinh Bien-Phnom Den (An Giang and Takeo Provinces), Xa Xia - Prek Chak (Kien Giang, Lork, Kam Pot Provinces), and Xa Mat -Trapeing (Tay Ninh and Kampong Cham Provinces).

Two other pairs of border crossings are expected to open later this year, including Le Thanh - Oyadav (Gia Lai and Andong Pich - Ratanakiri Provinces) and Bu Prang - O Raaing (Dak Nong and Mundulkiri Provinces).

Last year, two-way trade between Vietnam and Cambodia was US$1.83 billion. At present, Vietnam is the fourth biggest importer of Cambodian goods and Cambodia is the 16th largest importer of goods from Vietnam.

Pure Nature In Moc Chau Plateau

Despite it is in summer or winter, and the days are foggy or full of sunshine, Moc Chau Plateau is always attractive with its dreamlike beauty.

Located in Son La Province, at a distance of 200 kilometers from Hanoi, Moc Chau Plateau is 1,050 meters above the sea level, with an area of about 80 kilometers in length and 25 kilometers in width.

Moc Chau Plateau is famous for a large herd of milk cows, immense tea hills, big gardens of plum and apricot – tree, and large pastures of about 1,600 hectares.

The milk cow in Moc Chau is the black and white cow race of Holland. From this large herd of cows, Moc Chau has developed the experience tourism so that tourists can feed the cows and do the milking themselves.

This kind of tourism also offers tourists to enjoy the fresh pure cow’s milk and have camping over night right in the pasture.

It would be totally relaxing and comfortable to walk on the hill slope of green and soft grass and enjoy the fresh cool air around. Scattered everywhere are the white flowers and in the distance are the green hills hiding in the shadow of the clouds. All those things just make the landscape here so dreamlike.

Tourists can also prepare meat or buy some from the small restaurants in town to have a roasting meal at night just like nomadic people.

Climate is a special tourism resource of Moc Chau Plateau. Usually, the medium temperature is just 200C, with cool summer and dry winter. The autumn and spring in Moc Chau is the season of tea and pine tree. That is the time when the whole plateau will be covered with a beautiful and fresh green colour.

One more outstanding point of this place is the Dai Yem Fall. From Pa Hang border gate in Long Sap commune, Moc Chau Town, go along the main road about 4 kilometers, there is a junction of two streams, where the fall starts.

Going through the forest, down to a short and sloping section, tourists would see the two streams pour water down from the height of about 100 meters.

Dai Yem Fall stays below the road surface. The lake under the fall is always clean and clear all year round. The scene around is very natural and wild, which makes its beauty so impressive.

A trip to Moc Chau Plateau will promisingly refresh travelers with joyful and peaceful feelings.
